After more than 3 years of intense activity the LIFE WALEVA project has been successfully completed. The main results of the project have been published on the web through the “Layman’s report” in a short and visual format.
The LIFE WALEVA project has focused on the development of an innovative technology for transforming lignocellulosic waste into a high value chemical product. This product is levulinic acid and the WALEVA process will contribute to the emerging green chemistry sector while avoiding the environmental impact caused by burning the biomass residues in the field.
LIFE WALEVA has been funded by the European LIFE program and developed by the consortium formed by TÉCNICAS REUNIDAS as coordinator, CICYTEX and FEIQUE. The project has had a budget of 1.6 M € for a duration of 39 months, ending in September 2017.
